One-on-one: Who will win the Super Bowl?

Kansas City – Alex Staab

The Kansas City Chiefs know what they’re up against when they travel to Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers for the 2021 Super Bowl on Sunday night.

While Tom Brady, one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, is preparing for his 10th Super Bowl appearance, Patrick Mahomes has matched or already surpassed Brady’s stats to the same point of his career. Simply put, this is where the Chiefs shine the brightest.

It’s the Tom Brady effect. You take a 7-9 team and add a six-time Super Bowl champ, among others of course, and you manage to improve to an 11-5 record and, eventually, a Super Bowl appearance. Alas, the 43-year-old is up against the young star in the 25-year-old Mahomes. It may just be the big game that stops the Bucs in their tracks.

What may help Tampa Bay is that they’re the first-ever team to play in a Super Bowl that they’re also hosting. The pomp and circumstance of it all could be the difference-maker. Sure, you may have the fans and the comfort of your home venue, but that all goes out the window and should simply be treated as the biggest game of the season, as opposed to having broken the Super Bowl home field curse.

Tom Brady may be the top reason that Tampa Bay is where they are, but it’s connections Brady has, like Rob Gronkowski, that create a unique dynamic. It’s just not enough for a Super Bowl win.

Patrick Mahomes has more to lose here. Call it dramatic, but if he fails to defeat Tom Brady, it further distances him and others from reaching Brady’s level of dominance. The Chiefs have the firepower to do it, and what better place to prove that they can do it than under the bright lights of the Super Bowl?

Kansas City will become the first back-to-back champions since New England in 2004 and 2005, dethroning Brady and company by a 35-24 score.

Tampa Bay – Francisco Alonzo

For the first time in Super Bowl history, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs will face each other in the big game. On Feb. 7, we will witness a matchup we’ve all been waiting for: Tom Brady against Patrick Mahomes.

Next Sunday, the world will watch as Tom Brady secures his sixth championship ring.

Brady’s experience will be key for Tampa Bay to emerge victorious. Brady, who will be playing his 10th Super Bowl, is indisputably the most experienced player in a game.

The quarterback has shown that he is the most decisive player during important moments. He has won five of the nine Super Bowls he has played and has been voted MVP on four occasions. If there is any player capable of avoiding the two-time Chiefs championship and frustrating the joy of their fans, it is Tom Brady.

Alex argues that the Chiefs’ offense this season has been unmatched thanks to Patrick Mahomes and that Mahomes is following Brady’s steps, but he has to remember that the Buccaneers’ defense is very solid. As long as Tom Brady has a good day, there is nothing they can do to stop him on the offensive.

We must also bear in mind that Tom Brady will have the help of his friend and teammate, Rob Gronkowski. They have won three Super Bowls together with the New England Patriots. Between them, they have scored 12 postseason touchdowns throughout their careers, something that no other duo has achieved in the history of football.

We can expect a very entertaining and tight game between the two teams. In the end, Tom Brady will lead the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to their second NFL title, after more than 18 years without even attending a Super Bowl — all of this during his first season with the Bucs.

Tom Brady is a special player, the type you only see once in your lifetime. On Sunday, he will show everyone why he is the best player in NFL history.
