Celebrity couples you probably forgot about

Love is in the air, but sometimes it’s a little too strong.

Throughout the 2000s, a multitude of weird celebrity courtships have formed, with some continuing through today.

Here is a sampling of the weirdest pairings that pop culture has forgotten.

Fred Armisen and Natasha Lyonne

If you’re not a lesbian, this couple may not strike you as strange. But how on earth is Natasha Lyonne, who has famously played Megan Bloomfield in the 1999 lesbian cult classic “But I’m a Cheerleader” AND lovable lesbian Nicky Nichols from “Orange is the New Black,” dating a man?

Plus she’s dating former “Saturday Night Live” cast member and “Portlandia” star Fred Armisen of all people, a man whose celebrity persona is so bizarre I didn’t even realize he thought about dating people.

Apparently, the couple is very happy, as they have been together since 2014.

Amy Poehler and Will Arnett

Will Arnett met Amy Poehler at one of her comedy shows in 1996 and the couple began dating four years later. In 2003, the couple got married and had their first child, Archie, five years later. In 2010, the couple welcomed their second son, Abel.

Unfortunately, the couple divorced in 2012, much to their fans’ horror. The couple kept many of the details private, but both seemed distraught over the separation.

Today, the couple seem to be amicable, and they still successfully co-parent their two boys.

Nicole Kidman and Lenny Kravitz

I want to get away — in fact, I want to fly away from the pain it causes me to conceptualize this couple.

In 2002, Kidman became Kravitz’ landlord, and the two were engaged shortly later.

Eventually, the two decided to call off their wedding.

This would be the second wedding Lenny Kravitz called off, not including his former marriage to ex-wife Lisa Bonet.

Rihanna and Shia LaBeouf

It’s hard to say for sure whether these two were actually a couple, but they did go on at least one date in 2007, which is weird enough as it is.

It’s no surprise this couple never made it, but it’s still shocking enough that it almost happened that I had to include it.

To be honest, I’m not even sure how these two could remotely consider dating, especially when Shia LaBeouf was still the baby-faced frontman of the “Transformers” movies at the time.
