The Bradley women’s golf team hoped to keep the train rolling as they entered the Diamante Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

With good momentum built up this season, the Braves ended the fall shooting an 884 (+20), good enough for 15th place out of 17 teams.

In the first round of the tournament, the Braves carded a team score of 295 (+19), with graduate student Mara Flaherty leading the way with a 72 (E). Following closely behind her with 74 apiece were freshman Jillian Cosler and senior Grace Aromando.

Closing out the opening round of the tournament for Bradley was sophomore Allison Pacocha who shot a 75 (+3), freshman Brooke Deebs with a 76 (+4) and junior Maria Perakis who tallied an 80 (+8).

The Braves had a better second round, posting their best team score out of all the rounds with a 293 (+17). The team was led by Cosler and Pacocha, who both carded even scores at 72. Aromando contributed with a 74 (+2) and both Flaherty and Deebs shot 77 (+5).

Something miraculous happened during the second round as Pacocha, on the 11th hole, shot an albatross, meaning that on a par five she finished the hole in two shots.

The third round proved to be an underwhelming one for the Braves, as they shot their worst single-round score by one stroke at 296 (+20). Cosler led the way for the team with a phenomenal one-under-par performance, while Pacocha followed up Cosler with an even par 72.

Perakis finished round three with a 74 (+2) and Deebs finished her round with a 77 (+5). Rounding out the Braves in this tournament were Aromando with a 79 (+7) and Flaherty with an 80 (+8).

Ultimately, this is not how the Braves wanted to end their fall semester, but there were several positives this season. High points for the team included reaching the 20-win mark as a program and achieving their first two-win semester since the 2015-2016 season. With this, the Braves will be coming into the spring season ready to play.

Bradley’s next competition will be at the Rio Verde Invite on Feb. 23-25.
