It was a successful start to the season for the Bradley women’s golf team, as they placed third in the A-Ga-Ming Invitational hosted by Central Michigan University last Monday.

The Braves’ shot a 887 (+23) at the 13-team competition, coming in behind Abilene Christian and Oakland University in their first meet. Bradley stayed in third place consistently throughout the tournament, shooting 299 in the first round, 298 in the second and 290 in the third.

The team was aided by its seasoned veterans. Senior Grace Aromando shot a 219 (+3) and graduate senior Mara Flaherty shot a 221 (+5), placing them both within the top 10.

Aromando shot her career-best in the third round with 70 strokes, beating her previous best of 71. She came away from the tournament with a fifth place finish. Not only did the Braves’ veterans shoot well, but freshman Jillian Cosler finished right outside the top 10, shooting six-over-par with 222 strokes.

Junior Maria Perakis was the final Brave to place in the top 20, rounding out the Braves’ four top 20 finishers with 223 strokes (+7).

This season looks promising for the Braves, as they have had good performances up and down the depth chart. The team will have a chance to build on its momentum as they head to Bloomington on Sunday to compete in the Redbird Invitational hosted by Illinois State.
