It looks like the Bradley track and field record book is changing once again.

Split at two different meets this past weekend in Raleigh, North Carolina and Charleston, Illinois, the Braves broke two more school records as they placed in the top 10 in several events.

WHO

The first of two runners to enter Bradley’s record books at the Raleigh Relays was senior Charlie Parrish, who broke the program’s record in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 8:49. The previous record holder was Chase Coffey who had set the record in 2016 with a time just one second behind Parrish.

Junior Tiana LoStracco, who was also in North Carolina, showed off by breaking the Braves’ record in the women’s 1500 meter run with a time of 4:19.10, two seconds in front of junior Julia Nelisen’s record last year which had previously occupied the top spot.

In the two record-breaking runs, Parrish and LoStracco finished 11th and 14th respectively in their events.

WHAT

Four other runners in Raleigh placed in the top ten in school history for Bradley with senior George Watson running the second fastest time in Bradley’s men’s 5k history with a 14:01.34. Sophomore Ashley Maguire and freshman Peyton Schieppe placed sixth and seventh respectively with times of 16:28.59 and 16:30.06 in the women’s 5k.

Senior Matt Aho also cracked the top ten in the Bradley history books in his 10k run of 29:30.07.

WHEN

The Braves also displayed a good outing at the Big Blue Classic hosted by Eastern Illinois. Bradley placed eight runners in the top ten to finish off a successful weekend.

Sophomore Brandon Kamp impressed as he took the first place finish in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:56.09. The event was uber-competitive as Kamp was followed closely behind for most of the event.

Sophomore Eli Rieker took part in the men’s 100-meter sprint and finished with a time of 10.82, placing him fourth in school history. With a time of 25.21, freshman Leah Thames placed third in the women’s 200-meter race, which slid her to the sixth-fastest time in school history.

Other standout performances came from junior Olivia Harp with a 4:42.48 finish in the women’s 1500m, sophomore Julia de la Piedra Sitjas with a time of 2:22.63 in the women’s 800-meter race and junior Noah Costa who finished fourth in the men’s 800m with a timing of 1:55.85.

WHERE

Bradley will get a peak at their conference rivals when they get set for the Redbird Challenge this weekend. There, the Braves will get a sense of where they sit within the league as the MVC Conference championship draws closer.
