Staff Picks: Who would be the ideal NIL sponsor?

As name, image, and likeness connections continue to run rampant through the college sports landscape, the Scout Sports staff wondered: “If we were college athletes, what sponsor would we like to pair up with?”

Spotify would be music to my ears

By Rodrigo Perez

Music and sports go hand in hand. You can’t go to a sporting event without having music booming from the stadium’s PA system. Music is in our daily lives and that’s why I think Spotify would be a cool NIL sponsorship.

Spotify is a brand that college students are very aware of and many use the popular app on a daily basis. Having Spotify sponsor our Bradley athletes could open up some cool combinations between music and sports, aside from it being an important tool before a big game.

Give me the Hershey Company

By Matt Lucas

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the best candy in the world is the York Peppermint Patty, and if I was an athlete capable of landing a NIL deal, I’d have the Hershey Company backing me up.

Not only does the mint and dark chocolate make a Dream Team worthy combination, but just think of the sponsorship opportunities. Why would the candy company not support an athlete at a school in which one of the most famous players was gifted with the name Hersey Hawkins? It’s a no brainer, just like picking up one of those treats in the check-out aisle.

Raising Cane’s can add another one to their plate

By Jonathan Michel

Raising Cane’s is without question the best fast food restaurant around. It’s a brand that is already entrenched in the NIL sphere after signing multiple college football players, including star LSU wide receiver Keyshon Boutte and Texas running back Bijan Robinson. The best offering at Cane’s is their sauce and I can already see the advertising headlines now: “It’s okay to get lost in the sauce”. Perhaps Peoria would get a Raising Cane’s location if I were to land that NIL deal…you’re welcome in advance.

Bullseye and I

By Mason Klemm

Like many college students, I enjoy going to Target for most of my needs. So, what company can represent me better than the bright red staple of basically every city in America.

In my opinion, giving Bullseye a partner on the billboards and in the commercials is a no-brainer. Knowing they have quality products and affordable pricing, I am already up-to-date on what I need to advertise. Plus, being from Minnesota, it’s in the company’s best interest to invest in someone who grew up in their home state and follows many of the sports teams they already sponsor.
